Join Team Fatty To Help Fight Cancer

I'm not much of a joiner, but I've joined Team Fatty to help fight cancer. Although I share Sheldon's view on 'thons (my riding my bike is NOT a sacrifice!), joining Team Fatty was a no-brainer for me. Elden and Susan are wonderful people, cancer sucks and this is something I can help with.

My own fund raising page is here. If you can contribute anything to this good cause, it'll be much appreciated.

Keep 'em rolling,

Kent

I'll be to busy thawing in the Arctic to ride, but I'll kick a few bucks your way.

I'm coming in from Chicago to (visit my brother and) ride. I look forward to meeting in person (I tried to stop in at the bike station last time I was in town, but didn't have wheels that time).

Your and Sheldon's opinion on 'thons makes perfect sense. The interesting thing is that they work! Here (read both post and comments, for full conversation) of why--many commenters partake of the belief that participants are doing something not-fun, but the principle works whether or not the thing is fun. You do something for "me" and I do something for "you"; the fact that both of these things benefit others, and are totally incommensurable is what makes them both gifts.

Ok, off my scholarly podium and back on the bike....
