Friday, September 19th was
Park(ing) Day, a one-day global event to celebrate parks and promote the need for more urban green space. Seattle had about 30 of these mini parks installed in places that are used to park cars the other 364 days of the year. Several of these parks were in the Columbia City and Hillman City neighborhoods of Seattle were within walking distance of Bike Works, so I took a little break from work to take these shots.
Why O Why can cars park on a public street 364 days a year, but a Park cannot park yet for only a day. We should do away with subsidized free street parking and turn the parking into Parks to benefit all.
