Glad you found Slab Creek Road, that's a great route! Though a little bummed that you skipped Cape Lookout. Yeah, the road is a little rough, but the campground is hands-down the best of the coast!adventure!https://www.blogger.com/profile/11840448827760637569noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-18676999.post-78997373633355257762011-10-05T08:27:00.468-07:002011-10-05T08:27:00.468-07:00A highly enjoyable read.

I guess there is something to be said for lycra and speed but, IMHO, Team Turtle knows the best way of getting the most out of a cycling tour to the beautiful Oregon Coast is to savor it....slowly.

Thank you Kent and Christine.

Best Wishes.

Paul
SeattleAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-18676999.post-86277355177600165962011-10-03T21:08:17.674-07:002011-10-03T21:08:17.674-07:00Kent-

Seven years ago my girlfriend (at the time) Jenny and I laid up 4 days in Honeyman State Park, both icing sore knees. Too many miles too quickly took their toll on our West Coast tour to San Francisco. Although the trip ended short of our goal, the strength we gained through shared adversary on that tour cemented a bond that led to our marriage. Thanks for sharing Kent, you got it figured out!

Cheers,

MattMatthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11871944390667402565noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-18676999.post-27662927833073581122011-10-02T05:15:59.437-07:002011-10-02T05:15:59.437-07:00...thanks for sharing, Kent...wonderful photos and......thanks for sharing, Kent...wonderful photos and log...

BillBill Slabonikhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06199287996073725367noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-18676999.post-49989508210411781422011-09-28T11:06:54.282-07:002011-09-28T11:06:54.282-07:00I think the pictures of Christine sitting on the b...I think the pictures of Christine sitting on the beach and staring out at the ocean sum up the trip. After going down 101 South of Neskowin on my way to Newport a couple of years ago and dodging cars doing 70 mph, I went the NE 3 Rocks Road/Slab Creek Road going back and enjoyed the trip much more! I told everyone on a bike I saw going south to take that route. If you come his way again, Cape Lookout is a wonderful campground for biker/hikers, right off the beach. Devil's Lake seems a little too urban to me after Nehalem and Cape Lookout.midnitemikehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02668002733832390794noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-18676999.post-13570112985155678862011-09-23T17:40:47.701-07:002011-09-23T17:40:47.701-07:00Great re-cap as always, Kent.
