Amazon changed that a while back. Now if somebody buys straight through the Kindle, there is no mechanism to link a purchase back to us, but a web or twitter link does pay. For example, after I reviewed Jill Homer's book, several people bought it via the link in that review.Kent Petersonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01607372827627527450noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-18676999.post-25451819268067674172011-06-10T14:32:09.454-07:002011-06-10T14:32:09.454-07:00Regarding Amazon Affiliates such as you and I: We ...Regarding Amazon Affiliates such as you and I: We get zero percent on Kindle book purchases, which is kind of a drag.

One advantage of a hardware Kindle vs software running on a tablet -- the Amazon Kindle tends to be lighter and easier to hold than something like an iPad or Galaxy Tab, which can become important when you're reading a book.Yokota Fritzhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04808661100114872654noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-18676999.post-49749198272792242962011-06-07T08:49:53.759-07:002011-06-07T08:49:53.759-07:00I have the Kindle 3g, and it goes everywhere with ...I have the Kindle 3g, and it goes everywhere with me. In answer to the audio features, I do use the text to speech. I adjusted the tempo of the speech so that it is the right speed for me to absorb the sentences. I then put the kindle in my hydration pack and head out for anywhere from a 30-100 mile ride. I end up taking fewer breaks and can push longer because I am enjoying the book. I only use one earbud for safety's sake, but I have a good one that gets a tight seal so wind and traffic noise do not interfere with the audio.

I was skeptical of the e-reading systems, but after 6 months I am a believer!JimCnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-18676999.post-81701853832873657262011-06-03T08:27:02.484-07:002011-06-03T08:27:02.484-07:00roadtoacenturyandbeyond,

It works great and it's better integrated with the various Creative Commons sources of e-books. I was thinking about getting a android tablet and just continuing to use the kindle app. My logic would be not only could I read kindle books, but I could also use other ereader apps as well. Do you think there is any down side to this? Just curious maybe you had thought about this too.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-18676999.post-25998756518139947692011-06-01T18:40:56.020-07:002011-06-01T18:40:56.020-07:00Cellarrat,

The speaking thing is kind of neat, though robotic-sounding and I really prefer just plain reading. The mp3 playing is very simple and really any mp3 player or phone these days is much better.

But for reading, the Kindle really is slick!Kent Petersonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01607372827627527450noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-18676999.post-13906369419945837282011-06-01T17:30:57.094-07:002011-06-01T17:30:57.094-07:00Kindle's rivals, including the Nook, allow you...Kindle's rivals, including the Nook, allow you to checkout ebooks from many public libraries.

Amazon has announced that the Kindle will also allow library checkouts, but they haven't said when.

I mostly use my Kindle to read newspapers and when traveling for books. But I'll use it more for books when I can check out library books on it. It's a great and less expensive way to read newspapers.

I like that my Kindle is dumb, and though I occasionally connect to the internet on it, I don't want it to get any distracting twitter habits.

I also like that its black and white, less distracting.

For people who like glossy magazines though, I'd say ipad or color nook.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-18676999.post-49000026765475669162011-06-01T10:59:57.473-07:002011-06-01T10:59:57.473-07:00have you played with the audio stuff much?have you played with the audio stuff much?FixieDavehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04685170404057881390noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-18676999.post-86396269011559631912011-05-30T18:22:09.016-07:002011-05-30T18:22:09.016-07:00Glad to hear you like the Kindle, Kent.
