I really liked this post. Probably the Obama tricycle pic, but this one resonated with me. I rode my darn bicycle to supertuesday last week and wore my helmet in line as I waited to vote in our secret ballot caucus. Take that "the man".Tarik Salehhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09664260510124463879noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-18676999.post-45786727055926150312008-02-11T21:49:00.000-08:002008-02-11T21:49:00.000-08:00I love you and your writings! After reading this post it dawned on me that I should encourage our son to read you also.

Anita and I attended our caucus. Attendance was much greater than 4 years ago. Being her first caucus, the participatory representative democracy with our neighbors (many of whom we didn't know) thrilled Anita.

WHile the caucus approach requires a greater commitment than simply going to our polling stations to cast our votes, I think that we as a civilization gain more by the time we invest with our neighbors in the process of selecting our government.Peter McKayhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15189205673386577586noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-18676999.post-55155484195693117012008-02-11T14:30:00.000-08:002008-02-11T14:30:00.000-08:00Great post Kent.I liked your comment that particip...Great post Kent.
I liked your comment that participating in an event that will determine the future of America is somewhat more important than a long bicycle ride.
Obama seems to be a statesman rather than a mere politician. That is precisely what this country needs after all these years of back room deals.
Yes, a lot of people hate Hillary. But Hillary supporters should not qive in to those forces.
If Obama were not running this year I too would be supporting her.citroenhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01764673872044307701noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-18676999.post-76790997370048010472008-02-11T12:46:00.000-08:002008-02-11T12:46:00.000-08:00Nice writeup, Kent! I don't understand the hatred of Hillary on the part of some - but then again I don't really understand the logic of American politics either.

I'd love to see a 3rd party (or more) enter the realm of U.S. politics - although it's of course never the "right time" to do it. There's always the threat of spoiling the election, etc. But we've got to get there eventually - the Dems & Repubs are starting to merge, in my mind.

The Vashon Loop was great, btw!matthttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16714669646251289155noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-18676999.post-89687781409399451612008-02-11T08:42:00.000-08:002008-02-11T08:42:00.000-08:00A great post (as always), and the picture of Barac...A great post (as always), and the picture of Barack was a joy to behold.

This morning, I got this link from a friend (the quoted writer is another friend, as it turns out). And all these dems who claim to be enviromentalists...well they got at least some taste of human powered movement by walking from their on-street parking 0.5 miles to the school.
